It takes 40 days to break a habit…

Time is now here to set new intentions for 2019.  The year to go ‘within’ to meditate to find your inner balance and peace.  To still our minds in order to listen to our souls we practice yoga.  Stretching and moving the body allows it to sink into the restful space where meditation can happen.  In Kundalini Yoga we recite a mantra or song to change the levels of consciousness in our mind, body and spirit and to clear the chatter thoughts.  We then make way for a state of mind that serves our higher good with positive actions and results.

While the world seems negative and messy we can still find our peace within.  Whether you practice at home or at a studio, cultivate the discipline to commit yourself to a personal practice.

It takes 40 days to change or break a habit, 90 days to confirm a habit, 120 days, the new habit is who you are, 1000 you have mastered the new habit.  This means that our brain does not accept ‘new’ data for a change of habit unless it is repeated each day for 40 days.

If you would like to be given a 40 day challenge and have specific reasons to change, let us know and we can guide you and help you towards your goal.  It takes a few days to settle into the 40 day challenge but it doesn’t take long for you to want to keep going and going.  It becomes a comfort and you physically, mentally and spiritually feel changed.

This year I have worked on many mantra 40 day challenges, and one of my favourites is Kirtan Kryia (Meditation for Change), I am currently on a 40 day ‘So Purkh’, a woman’s prayer that helps herself and the men in her life.

If you do one thing for yourself this coming year, let it be self-discipline.  When your ego mind gives you 101 excuses not to do it, say ‘I’m doing it anyway’. Commit to your soul and your soul will commit to you.
