For those that are new to the term Yoga Nidra, it simple means Yogic Sleep. Sounds relaxing, doesn’t it. Well it is more than just relaxing, its a therapy and has many benefits.
You just relax in savasana (corpse pose) and this meditation takes you through the five layers of self leaving you feeling a sense of wholeness. If you can’t lie down on the floor comfortably, you can practice this seated.
All you have to do is follow the voice that is guiding you, you may remember some parts of the mediation but not others. Each time you practice you will have a new experience. If you fall asleep, this is okay too, you will still gain benefits from absorbing the practice.
A Yoga Nidra practice can be as short as five minutes and as long as an hour so you can incorporate this into everyday life. Its common to incorporate this practice into your bedtime routine. You can lie and listen to a Yoga Nidra script with headphones.
Yoga Nidra offers a space to explore what you need in the moment, as well as an opportunity to work on releasing long-held emotions. Yoga Nidra can serve as a pathway to freedom without creating bodily stress. Yoga Nidra is a way to find peace within your mind and body.
Enjoy.
